Obituary of Carmine T. Schirripa
Carmine T. Schirripa, age 86, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Born on January 19, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Prenesti) Schirripa.
Devoted husband of Marie Jean Schirripa, sharing over 50 years of love and companionship. Beloved father of Christopher Schirripa and wife, Maria and the late Gregory Schirripa. Cherished Pop of Christopher, Jacob, and Gabrielle. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
As the first generation of his family born in the United States, Carmine embodied a spirited and adventurous personality. Known for his Happy Go Lucky spirit and his tendency to create his own rules, he was a beloved figure in Breezy Point, where he was known as the "Token Italian". He embraced his Italian heritage and cherished the traditions of Sunday dinners with family. Carmine had a deep love for the beach, spending many years boating and enjoying the ocean.
In his later years, Carmine found solace in the warm weather of Naples, Florida, during the winter months.
A fond past time was his trip to Italy and Sicily in 2013, where he relished the opportunity to connect with his roots and explore new horizons making unforgettable memories with his family.
Carmine's legacy will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality and the affection he had for his family and friends. He was a legend and beloved figure to many, leaving behind a lasting impact on all who knew him.
The family will receive visitors at Marine Park Funeral Home, 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn, on Sunday, August 25, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 26, at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, 204-25 Rockaway Point Blvd., Rockaway Point, Queens, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carmine's memory to The Rockaway Point Volunteer Emergency Services. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home, or contributions can be mailed to 204-26 Rockaway Point Blvd., Rockaway Point, New York 11697.
Carmine will be deeply missed, but his spirit and memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
