Obituary of Gerald Smyth
Gerald Smyth, age 80, of Brooklyn, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 30, 2024. He was born on February 1, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late James and Mary (White) Smyth. Beloved husband of Anita Smyth for over 50 cherished years.
Loving father of George, Susan, Jerry, Gina, and Jeannine, and cherished grandfather of Liam, Skye, James, Joey, Alexa, Ryan, and Genevieve.
Gerald proudly served his country as a member of the US Army.
He had a green thumb and found solace and joy in tending to his garden.
Gerald's culinary skills were unmatched, and he delighted in cooking for his family, especially when crafting his signature sauce. Additionally, he showcased his craftsmanship as a skilled carpenter, demonstrating his versatility as a jack of all trades.
Those who knew Gerald remember him as a lively conversationalist who could captivate a room with his stories. He was outspoken but always in a good-natured manner, and he had a knack for keeping those around him on their toes.
Above all, Gerald epitomized selflessness, kindness, and generosity. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he adored his grandchildren with all his heart.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the repose on Wednesday, April 3, from 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home, 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 4, at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, located at 1950 Batchelder Street, Brooklyn. Following the service, burial will take place at Calverton National Cemetery.
