Aldur Michael Birk, 72, of Brooklyn, New York passed away in Brooklyn after a heroic battle with cancer on February 6, 2024.
He was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1951 to parents Edith and Jaan Birk. At the tender age of four years old, Aldur along with his parents, immigrated to the United States, making their first home in The Bronx. Aldur attended Taft High School. There he was a member of the swim team. He held the record for the 100-yard butterfly stroke, making him a true champion in the pool. Aldur’s love for aquatic environments led him to work seasonal jobs as a lifeguard at Orchard Beach and Sunset Park.
In later years, he planted roots in Brooklyn, where he remained throughout his adult years.
Aldur was a charismatic guy. He loved entertaining and had an insatiable love of music. His eclectic taste and extensive collection spanned many genres of music. He often shared his favorite songs with many family and friends.
Aldur is preceded by his father Jaan Birk, and is survived by his mother Edith, children - Lance, Crystal and Ingé, grandchildren -Madison, Noah and Noël, siblings - Arvo, Raymond, Elizabeth, Anita and Haley, and five nieces and three nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Aldur’s life will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11 AM EST.

The visitation for Aldur Michael Birk will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 11:00 to 12:30 PM. The funeral will be private.
