Obituary of Barbara Looney

Barbara T. Looney, 64, of Brooklyn, NY, passed away surrounded by her loving family January 18, 2024. Barbara was born on November 11, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York to Austin F. Looney and the late Dolores J. Looney.

Barbara enjoyed many summers at Breezy Point Surf Club with her friends and her father. She loved shopping adventures to her favorite stores, winning at Scrabble, a great nap and day trips to the city. Recently, MaryKate and Barbara went to London, which she cherished as a trip of a lifetime.

Barbara was a devoted and loving mother to MaryKate E. Looney, to whom they shared many of life's greatest adventures. Raising MaryKate was Barbara's proudest life accomplishment.

Barbara is survived by her father, Austin F. Looney. The relationship they shared was truly special.

Barbara was a loving sister to Frances Kelly (Peter), Dolores Looney and Elizabeth Ciabattari.

Barbara was a proud Aunt B to Caitlin Kaverick (Sean), John Ciabattari (Jamie), Michael Ciabattari (Dominque). She loved spoiling her Great Nieces and Nephews; Christian, Cameron, Olivia, Raegan, Carson, Isla and Austin.

Barbara is survived by a large and loving extended family and her best friend Margaret Merriman. She will always be missed, but never forgotten.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 21 at Marine Park Funeral Home, 3024 Quentin Rd, Brooklyn NY 11234 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM.

Celebration of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 22 at St. Columba Catholic Church at 10:00 AM.

Barbara's wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest with her Mother at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
